With a change in regulations for the 2017 STCC season, it was announced that Polestar and Volvo would not be rejoining the championship that they have won eight times since the championship's inception in 1996. This created much speculation as to where Volvo's drivers Richard Göransson and Robert Dahlgren would go for 2017.
The latter has given us an announcement today as Dahlgren confirmed he would race one of PWR Racing's new Seat Leon TCR cars as part of a three year deal for team. Dahlgren has raced Volvos since 2004 and in that time has has competed in the WTCC, with a best result of fourth, V8 Supercars, with a best result of thirteenth and the STCC where he took several wins and has twice finished runner-up in the championship behind the wheel of various Volvos.

2017 will represent the beginning of a new journey for Dahlgren who said in a press release "PWR Racing is in my eyes the strongest team in STCC now, but together we will develop into a winning machine" Dahlgren finished second in the drivers' championship last season with five wins and eight further podiums whilst PWR matched that in the teams', being the highest scoring team at three events and taking six wins split between Johan Kristoffersson who took four wins and Daniel Haglöf who took two . In the same press release, Daniel Haglöf stated: "In addition to the qualities he possesses as a racing driver Robert is just the team player that is needed in our puzzle. I speak for the whole team when I say that we are really looking forward to working with him in the future"
With an ever improving team behind him and a well-proven car underneath him, Dahlgren is already set to become a likely threat for the 2017 championship title.
